A Moroccan influence

There are many reasons why I love Moroccan food, the harmonious balance between sweet and savory, the oranges that feature heavily in the landscape and menus, versatile and rich argan oil, drizzled over couscous or with ground almond to make it a thick peanut butter-like paste. Yep, there are lots!

In 2013 I was lucky enough to visit Morocco for my honeymoon and instead of sticking in one place, we chose to travel through the High and Anti-Atlas Mountains and surrounding countryside as a way to better understand the country and culture we were staying in.

The pace provided by the countryside was a welcome contrast to the invigorating and frenetic city life, and we quickly found peace and a rhythm between the mountains, desert, towns and oases.

The food we ate varied greatly and veered from roadside meat skewers to tajine made by a small Berber family. To this day, I have never tasted oranges like the ones we were served, with a little sprinkling of cinnamon, the sunshine in those oranges was palpable.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
